As most of you already know, I’ve had a lot going on recently and just want to take a few minutes to update anyone who is interested in what I have going on and what my plans are for the upcoming months in regards to you or your son's baseball training.

Baseball career and family..

First, I’m currently back out in Wichita for my first season back as a player in 2 years. I walked away from a very good position with the San Diego Padres where I was overseeing all the catcher development in the minor league system. I accepted that position after my 2015 season where I was Player of the Year for the Wichita Wingnuts. I had just gotten married and was uncertain what the future held for me as a player.  I decided to accept a the Minor League Catching Instructor position that was offered to me and start my coaching career at just 26 years old.

My experience with the Padres was great in so many ways.  I was able to experience some things that no one at that age gets to. But, I regretted “retiring” when I did especially after the best season I’d ever had.  I spent months of praying and weighing my options and eventually a door opened and I knew what I had to do.  I’ll never be able to express how grateful I am to the San Diego Padres for giving me the opportunity they did. But, the timing just wasn’t right and I decided to pursue playing again... and I was headed back where I left off in Wichita. I worked my butt off to prepare and get in the best shape of my life to get back out on the field. My amazing wife Hannah has supported me the entire way and for the first time ever has been able to be with me to enjoy the ups and downs. Oh, and we are expecting our first baby boy in early January!!

17 Co. begins, Southern Athletics ends...

Casey and I started 17 Co. about a year ago. We are working hard to continue to offer the best player development in the Carolinas and build a brand that can help athletes reach their goals.  We have continued to provide our in-person training and we are now able to train our guys remotely on an app right on their mobile device.  We’ve seen awesome results with how we train our guys and can now train them even when our lives involve traveling. Our goal is to make a positive impact on as many young men as we possibly can through baseball and encourage them to grow and work hard.

I have spent the last 3 years being at every event I could and helping any player I could within Southern Athletics. I changed flights, drove all over the place to be at tournaments and events, and spent countless hours on phone calls and at the ball-field supporting the cause and helping build something special. Things were going great but then things changed as a surprise to me but SA was handing things over to another group.  I hate to see it end, but the decision had been made and now it’s time to move on and continue to try my best to impact as many young athletes as I can.

For those who are unsure about where they are going to play in the fall, we will coach a handful of tournaments with the Upstate Mavericks as well as do extra development work with the players in the organization.  We will be training players from multiple other organizations in our off-season groups as well, so if you don't play Mavz but still want to get better, we are here for you!

I was part of the first team that helped kick start this long, successful road that Chris Nall and the Mavericks have been on, so I feel it's only right to step back in on the player development side for him.  The Mavericks have seen over 330 players make it to the next level as well as 28 drafted by the MLB.  It's a great option for players in our area looking for a team and I'm happy to be on board to help coach these young men!

What happens after this summer??

When we get back in the fall, we will jump right into training guys ASAP and coaching for the fall season. We will be running development programs, camps, and clinics in SC and NC. We will continue to progress and provide the best training we possibly can specializing in hitting, catching, and pitching.

Early Registration for Off-Season Training!!

We will be posting all the details and registration information in the next couple days!  Stay tuned...

THANK YOU to everyone who follows and supports me.  It means more than you know to have the support of the players and parents I'm fortunate enough to be around.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate each and every one of you.  I hope I can help serve each of you in your baseball journey!
